Does an apple a day really keep
a doctor away?I have always wonder if that was true or if some apple
growers’ association made it up! So, I looked into the issue to settle
it once and for all. What I discovered is going to amaze you as much as
it did me!
According to one scientific study that was done at
a prominent university,apples were found to have the possible benefit
of increasing brain function,specifically memory.With the apple
juice,the animals had increased memory,and increased learning
capacity.This means that apples could possibly contribute to better
qualities of life for the aging.
I for one, am going to be
eating more apples! The great thing about what those studies showed was
that it wasn’t huge amount of apples or apple juice that had to be
ingested in order to get the results.It was only a normal amount,which
would be equivalent of 2 glasses of apple juice,or only 2 or 3 whole
apples a day!That’s all! I would say that easy enough to do,wouldn’t
you?
In another scientific study it was found that there is a
strong possibility that apples a constituent that might be very
beneficial in the fight against cancer,particularly breast cancer.apple
eating apparently has a directly correlated relationship to less breast
cancer.Meaning,eat more apples have less breast cancer.Also colon
cancer,as well as digestive cancers.
Further studies on humans
have found benefits related to lung functions,particularly in helping
prevent lung cancer.This benefit was found when eating only 1 apple per
day! And in yet another study,both coronary heart disease and
cardiovascular disease were found to be greatly reduced in women who
increased their apple intake. Apple eating has also been associated
with significant decreased in the incidence of strokes,and for women
suffering from certain hormonal problems,such as those related to
menopause.
Along with those benefits it looks promising that
apples benefits aging in the area of bone mass,and joint health.Asthma
is another of the diseases that can be benefited by apple eating.It was
found in another study that children that ate apples on daily basis had
a far smaller like hood of having asthma-related problems.even children
of women who ate plenty of apples during their pregnancies, got similar
benefits!
Remember that apples are loaded of fiber also,The
equivalent only of 2/3 of one apple was all it took to get the same
benefit as a whooping 1500mg of vitamin C,but real benefiters will be
the people who are able to hopefully prevent the cancers!This time
with human participants(instead of mice), The group drinking the apple
juice (12oz daily) (rather than the whole apples),were found to have
less chance of being affected by the "bad" cholesterol.and that people
who ate more apples lost weight more easily.So, dieters need to run out
and buy some apples,and start crunching.
